Very sordid and corrupt city

I had no idea that the people in Lake Charles were so bad. We agree- There is something really sick and malevolent about this city that I can definitely agree with all of the reviewers on this website here. I had left Lake Charles almost 17-18 years ago and have returned only to find out it that shockingly it has become a crime-infested slum, just like the big city of Seattle. I have no idea why this is happening though. Lake Charles was not like this when I was younger. When I left this city way back in early 2002 the people seemed fairly nice and normal. Now today, the city is very different and the people are very rude and suspicious. (You get a feeling of dread being in this city. As if someone is going to try and hurt you. All of the people will give you a sour look and seem like they secretly hate you? Or want nothing to do with you? They will only pretend to be your friend and pretend not to mind when you talk to them. But it seems they truly hate you underneath their mask? Did anyone else get this feeling? Vote me up if you did.)
When driving in this city we had a cop pull us over for not putting on our blinker when we were Yielding. (something that does not seem illegal? We were baffled.) We were also tricked by another cop during a speed trap. (seemed he was desperate for money) we were not even speeding, and we've had only about 2 or 3 speeding tickets in our whole lifetime, before this. (we are an old couple, in our 60s now) I think the people here are very desperate and are trying their best to find ways to exploit others. Lake Charles was a very different city a few decades ago, but shockingly it has become a very arrogant and rude city. I wonder if it has anything to do with the school system? it is very interesting that other people have written and noticed this too, i am glad i am not the only person who believes the city is messed up. We were wondering if it was truly us, and not them. And we are believing it is actually them. (Lake Charles) after all. So we thank everyone on this website for their comments.
We took our son and daughters to the schools here a long time ago before we moved to another place in America, and they would always come home crying and complaining to us that they did not like those kids or the schools, and wanted us to take them to another school somewhere else. They were constantly bullied and picked on in school. When this happened - nobody did anything - the principals did not even listen to us and would act like it was our childrens fault, and not teachers or the kids. No where has this happened anywhere else that we lived, so we believe indeed that Lake Charles must be the problem. (Our son even long complained of being bullied purposefully in Elementary by a teacher - but we refuse to name-drop who she is, out of fear. But if more and more people spoke out about the teacher, we would definitely speak out and sue that teacher, as well. We tried to tell the school board about this teacher, but they either didn't believe us - or completely ignored it.)
We are writing this review of Lake Charles right now to warn everyone and so they can hopefully find out the truth. And so they will not be subjected to to the horrible experiences that we had faced.
We, too, were a little confused ourselves about why this city seems so unnecessarily mean. We aren't thin-skinned people but this city almost seems like it deliberately is really trying to hurt your feelings or make people angry on purpose. The people of Lake Charles were not like other people in the USA, and not like even others in Louisiana. Everyone in this city does indeed seem to hate eachother in secret. WHen we first moved here, we had thought this behavior was only a joke!! So, I am glad everyone else is speaking out about had bad this city is. (the negative reviews on here are pretty justifiable, even if you may love this city and disagree, you have to admit that some things people have said here are definitely true.)
When you try to help people in this city, it only seems to make things worse and the people get more and more angry or mad instead of taking your advice. (Your constructive criticism.) We have no idea why this was. It was almost like the more and more we said something to people or tried to be friendly, the worse and worse our relationships with the people here became. (just trying to be nice) We didn't like our relationship with people in Lake Charles - They were not like other people?
